03A3 Rear site base install
I purchased a CMP barreled receiver that did not have a rear site base installed.
I ordered a replacement base and was wondering what the best way to attach it to the receiver is?
I have seen photos of a set screw but wondered if there is a non drill method that will hold it into place.
If the drilling is the preferred method what size of screw threads do you use and where do you locate it? (forward of the dovetail?)
I previously posted on the CMP forum but trying to get input from others.
Thanks for your comments,

pretty easy, if you dont over build the wheel.
put a little grease on the dovetail,
install the sight from right to left, with a wood, plastic, brass, pusher, and a hammer.
dont beat right on the base, it will bend, the set screw is to hold the sight in place, and not matched with a hole in the reciever.

Thank you Chuck.
My plan is to use either a 4-40 or 6-32 tap and then dimple the top of the receiver to put the set screw into.
Does this sound correct?
Thanks again,

As Chuck indicated, there is no hole in the receiver. The screw in the sight is just jammed against the receiver to hold the sight in place.
