    Interesting Rifle from Afganistan

I noticed this video today. Mark Novak of Anvil Gunsmithing is going to do a video of a full teardown, refurb, chamber casting, etc. to hopefully put it back in service.
I thought this was pretty interesting.

"There are no screws on the gun", right after pointing out how the extractor is retained by one.

Clever design. He doesn't mention the obvious point on the dovetailing of the barrel into the receiver: ease of machining in manufacture.

The sporting version shown here is good deal more attractive: Schlegelmilch German Hunting Guns

Apparently a proposed Gew98 substitute with Schlegelmilch actionn: https://www.rockislandauction.com/de...rimental-rifle Some dummy has apparently buffed, blued and steel wooled the rifle, the better to appeal to the educated buyers!

Can Schlegelmilch be credited with inventing or first producing a rifle whose bolt locks into the barrel itself?
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928

Much changes, much remains the same.
