is this large 6 x scope a ww2 k98 sniper scope
hello ALL.........
I am new to this forum because I have just bought this really large scope
It looks like it has mauser k98 claw mounts
I know nothing about scopes, please see the pictures below !
It is 1 foot long, the small end is 1.5 inches diameter and the larger end
is 2 inches in diameter
what looks like a focus rotating extending section at the small end rotates and
screws out to lengthen the scope by about another inch !
Total length then approx 13 inches which is approx. 32 cm
Thank you, please tell me what you know..... Age etc AND a value ! :-)
lenses are really clean, what you think maybe marks are reflections !
.

Hi,
i´m not an expert on scopes. The only thing i know is that this scopes with steel tubes was often seen on hunting rifles. There were some on an auction over here and the prices gone from 85 Euros to 200 Euros. But as i said: i´m not an expert.
Regards
Gunner

No German WWII stamps or codes or dates on body. Not war issue for sure. Appears to be a nice German scope, used, lesser branded named scopes do not tend to bring much money.

Considering it says "up" in english I'd put it post WWII. Couple that with it being fixed and I'd say 1950's-60's. There were a number of optics manufacturers in the Wetzlar region and I'd probably put it around the age of the American "Texan" brand scope.
