Possible M1A1 part?

Hello all, was wondering if anyone could help identify this part. At first I thought it was a recoil plate cover but looking at it closer, that can't be what that is. I am not familiar with the M1A1 at all and was wondering if anyone could rule in or out if this part belongs to an M1A1 at all. Thanks in advance for any replies

Thanks BAR, there's another item in the lot that is not a carbine part as well which is right above that little black part. Some kind of weird shaped spring which I think is the end of a flashlight, the little holder that swivels flat with the bottom of the handle and can be raised up if you want to hang it on a nail. Listing said it was from an estate clean out so they probably just assumed those two pieces went with it haha

That spring is the bolt and guide rail retaining clip from an M3 or M3A1 greasegun. Here in pic, top right corner number "7"...from Numrich.

Oh wow thanks again BAR! I would have never in a hundred years figured out exactly what that spring was haha. I was convinced I already knew what it was being a flashlight ring haha. Do you have any guess what that little black part would be to? Also, if any member on here would have a need for that M3 grease gun spring let me know and I'll send it your way at no charge, as long as you are in the USA and can legally have that spring. I don't need it for my collection but somebody out there may need it for theirs. There is also a receipt from 1950 from the DCM where a gentleman bought an m1903 for $18. I can't tell yet from the pictures if the serial number is on that sheet but if it is I would like to try to find the current owner of that rifle so I can get that receipt to him or her

Do you have any guess what that little black part would be to?

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell us, I'm sure I've seen it before. As for the M3 spring, I had the gun at one time so that was a shoo-in.
