U. S PROPERTY marked M60 H and R Reising
Hello,
I have a nice litely used M60 Reising. It has two oddities I believe.
1) Just after the "U.S. PROPERTY" is "XM60SF". It is in the same font as the U.S.Property mark... I never seen mention of model XM60SF.
2) it has no provisions for a sling. In their place are two wide base standard screws who s parkerized finish matches rest of gun. Was there a sling free or slim less model. Where ever this ended up it lead a nice life. Bore, finish, bolt, and wood are in great shape.
Thanks for any information.

The first response would be a fake as those are not standard markings .
HOWEVER , my Marine raider buddy has confirmed that several officers on Guadalcanal were carrying M60 semis while there .
I would love to see pictures and know the serial number of this .
I've had a M65 suppressed .22 used in the Pacific for years now , and I've had no luck verifying it's use there other than a couple of people's recollections .

I have number 27 and based on it, the front sight is a commercial replacement and receiver rear sight screw in eye piece is a non factory replacement. Very nice gun anyway.
