Pictures of Ross Factory Sporting Rifles
Attachment 77136
Top: Model 1910 factory sporting rifle, caliber .280 Ross. Single leaf rear sight blade is opportunistically marked, "0-500" (yards). Most of the sporters made were in .280 caliber.
Middle: Model 1905E factory sporting rifle, caliber .303 British. Three blade folding rear sight.
Bottom: Model 1905 factory sporting rifle, caliber .303 British. Economy model with Winchester rear sight and Harris magazine dump feature.
It has taken a few years to assemble this collection. The .303s are seldom seen.

Bottom one is a 1905R, as you mention the economy version of the 1905E.
In my search for Ross rifles, I have found that factory sporters are easier to find than unaltered service rifles, although I have yet to turn up a 1905E. Here in Ontario, I have seen more .303 sporting rifles than .280s. M10/.280 rifles were premium priced, and used less readily available ammunition.
Sported, altered, bubba'd service rifles are common enough.

One not quite as nice just sold at auction for about $1900, all in. Military pattern, with the longer forend so that a bayonet could be mounted. Different rear sight bridge (adapted for charger loading)with a Mk. III rear sight mounted.

That's a very fine trio indeed. Very rare to find examples in that kind of condition, most have been used long and hard, particularly the .303 sporters.
There is a serial number database on Welcome to Ross Rifle which you might care to add your serial numbers to, anonymously of course.

The problem is not the login, the problem is I would need to REGISTER there first. And it still says this is disabled.
