Re Progress with this rifle. I've now removed the welded in metal plate that was blocking the mag well. Last night I carefully ground off the remaining vestiges of weld using a dremel with grinding bit in it. A regular SMLE mag case should now fit snugly once again. I will need to dress it up a little more so that the cosmetics are acceptable, & then I'll blend in the blueing. Hopefully, if I've got rid of all of the gobs of weld the finish might match reasonably, as I intend to rust blue it. At least it's not going to be readily visible, anyway.
What is going to take time is getting the sleeving done. A good old pal in the trade does it. Many years ago he sleeved some 4T barrelled actions from the batch we bought. A few had shot out barrels, so we got them converted to .22LR. Only did about half a dozen, but they're all out there still, somewhere! He then moved to another part of the UK for some years, but has recently moved back to the Midlands, & actually enjoys doing sleeving as most of his work is deactivations for the overseas market. Unfortunately he already has five or six rifles to do for me, so this one will have to take its turn. I've been waiting months for these as the tubes have had to come from Brownells in the US. Something else we seem no longer make here in the UK.......
And yes, I'll hopefully get some more conveyors made. I have two, so I have a pattern.
At least as you get older you get a little more patient!

Or, you want it quicker as you need to know you'll get to see it !
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...
Nice looking Ruger 10/22 on the rack Roger or is it the .44 Mag version, the 10/22's were and still are a great little rifle very accurate for a semi auto I had an Erma 22Mag M-1 replica with a 10 shot mag was a sweet rifle but ammo was expensive, I'll recount one day how I shot a fox with it in broad daylight quite a funny story.
Gone along with a SKB 12Ga when the S/A ban came in after Port Arthur.
Hi Ron. Yes, rimfire self loading rifles are all our government trusts us to own since Hungerford. The husband of a lady in my French lessons (no, straight up, I do a weekly conversational French class to practice the lingo!) is getting a little frail now & decided to give up shooting. The 10/22 was his, so I took it in & am now trying to place it with someone who needs one. It's the de-luxe model & scoped up, but they are really common over here so prices are not great.....there are just a lot on the market.
