Why can't I register or read the posts in any of the forums?
The process of joining MILSURPS.COM and having access to all of our public forums and Knowledge Libraries, is a simple two-step process.
Step 1
If you haven't done so, you need to start the REGISTRATION PROCESS (click here).
If you've already tried to register using the link above, but your application was rejected and you received a message similar to the one below that you were a spammer......
We apologize for the inconvenience, however, your registration with our forum has been denied because our site runs an active policy of not permitting recognized spammers to join. As reported by our external spam monitoring services, at some time in the past your email address OR a chosen username similar to the one you've selected, has been used by someone to post inappropriate spam on our site. BEFORE requesting technical support, perhaps retry your registration using a more unique variation on the user name you've selected. If you still have difficulties, please contact us and request assistance.
It means that the user name you chose was used in the past by spammers to post inappropriate content on not just our site, but also other sites as reported to vBStopForumSpam (click here), so your attempt to register with us using that name was blocked. We'd recommend you try to register again, perhaps using a different name with some other more unique variant to it, which will probably be more successful.
If you've already registered but if you type in your password and the site doesn't recognize it, then it means what you're typing doesn't match the password stored with your account record, so, you're probably not typing the password that you registered with, or you've forgotten it. Therefore, you need to request a password change (click here). We get people sending complaints that the password change function is broken. We have over 25,000 registered members using the same password change code for over six years, which means it must be working, so before sending us support requests that it's broken, please check these steps and instructions.
When you select password change and for your own safety and security, you are sent an email to the email address you originally registered with, simply to confirm that you actually requested to change your password. In the email, you are asked to click a link contained within the email to validate that request, then the site sends you another second email, which contains a new secure set of upper and lower case numbers and/or letters, which is your newly stored cAseSenSiTive password.

You then go to the site and enter your user name and that NEW cAseSenSiTive password in the login fields of the home page. Once you have re-logged into the site with that newly issued password, you can then go to your User Personal Control Settings (click here) and change that temporary password to something you are more familiar with. Again ….. Note: PLEASE WRITE THAT PASSWORD DOWN SOMEPLACE
When a visitor first signs up to become a Registered Member of the Military Surplus Collectors Forums, they must respond "I AGREE" to an on-line contract, in order to become a Registered Member. So, you will be asked review those Forum Rules, then choose a username and password you wish to use to log onto the site. For security purposes, you will also be asked to provide a VALID email address, so the ownership and moderating staff will be able to contact you.
Once you complete and submit your initial Registration, the system will automatically verify your new email address, by sending a personal email to the address you registered under. If we don't receive a response validating your registered email address, the system retries sending this same validation email three (3) times over the period of a week. During that period while we're awaiting email confirmation, your name continues to be displayed in RED and you will have no more access to the site than an unregistered guest. After fourteen (14) days without receiving a validation of the email address that you registered under, the system will purge your name.
Step 2
Check the INBOX of the email address you registered under. You will find an email from MILSURPS.COM that has the subject title "Action Required to Activate Membership for Military Surplus Collectors Forums". Open the email and you will find a URL link. Click the link within that email to validate your registration and you'll automatically be converted to a Registered User and have full access to everything. You will only need to visit that URL link once to have your account updated.
Warning: If you are a Microsoft Hotmail user, Yahoo email user, AOL email user or something similar, you may not find the validation email in your in-box. Hotmail (and similar free type services) often put validation emails into your
trash bin, so check there if you can't find it in your in-box. If you can't find any of the validation emails which are automatically sent, you can manually force the system to send you one to the email address you registered under. Click
HERE to manually send yourself a validation email to the email address our system shows you as being registered under.
Once you've successfully completed the two steps above, with the exception of a few forums reserved for Contributing Members (click here), you will have full access to ALL of our remaining forums.
Step 3
Now that you've registered, you need to make sure you are logged into the site to be able to read the forums and post messages yourself, so first, make sure you cut-n-paste the link below into your Internet browser and save it as a "bookmark", then all you have to do after that is click on that bookmark to come to the site.

Once you arrive using the above link, look in top right corner of the web site screen...
If you are logged in properly, then in the top right corner of the screen you should see your user name indicating you are logged on. If you still see blank boxes titled "User Name" and "Password" then you are NOT logged in.
So, fill in the two boxes...
Make sure that the small square box titled "Remember Me?" remains checked so you don't have to log in any more, because it sets a "cookie" on your computer so the site will automatically log you in from then onwards. Finally, click the button titled "Login". For security reasons, even the Systems Administrator doesn't know what your password is that you registered with.
If you think you're typing the wrong password, then click on the button beside the "Login" button titled "Forgotten Your Password?", which will prompt you with a series of steps to receive a new password sent to the email address you registered with.
