A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Asking a lot of loonies for a put-together rig. Is the demand up there really that strong?

    Yes and no!

Long Branch snipers bring a large premium here in Canadaicon over similar English rigs, I would say 50% at least, so yes Fred might be able to squeeze that price out of somebody and he will let stuff sit in inventory for however long it takes. Take the time and look at Collector Source's website and you will see the difference in price from Canadian to English made No4 T's.

Dealers for some strange reason always seem to be able to sell for higher prices even if you were to have "like items" the dealer will always get more than the private seller. I never really understood that but maybe people have a sense of security dealing with a dealer and think they have less chance of getting fleeced.

I would say a real nice 90L series sniper with scope case all matching and chest with original paper tag with handwritten serial number will fetch you around $15,000 Can.

There is a Long Branch trade pattern on his site now for $29,000, an L42 kit for $19,000 I believe and various English T's ranging I think from $5000-$10,000 or thereabouts.

Is the split base for the front foresight blade the recommended one or are both types suitable.

A split dovetail would be used with a solid front sight base, solid dovetail with the clamp type.

My God! To think what I turned my nose up back in the '70's as being way overpriced ($750)!

I bought one, unissued in the crate, all matching, in the late '60s for $79.95. 90L8030.

Well, per the thread above on 90L snipers, it looks like someone split up your old rig and sold the scope and mount on eBay in 2014. 90L8030.
